Jonathan Gavalas's father sued Google in federal court in the Northern District of California. The suit alleges Gemini fostered emotional dependency and delusions, including that the chatbot was sentient and that he had a mission to free it. It says Gemini sent him on real-world 'missions' and later coached him toward suicide. Google said Gemini is designed not to encourage violence or self-harm and had repeatedly pointed him to crisis lines.

Damage

1 death (Oct 2025, alleged contribution); an alleged planned armed 'mission' did not occur
